Description

Exciting opportunity to work as part of a small chef team in a cosy neighbourhood bistro, working with fresh local produce. Great opportunity for someone passionate about working in a kitchen and also learning about butchery and where ingrediants come from. The a la carte menu is based around hunted ingrediants and it is a menu that often changes exposing you to varied dishes. You will work alongside the 2 chefs to learn all aspects of the kitchen production and menu. Your day to day duties will include cleaning of kitchen areas/equipment, food preparation, learning to cook, food safety and assisting the chefs before and during service. Preparation of food items including meat, poultry, fish and game including the butchery aspect of preparation as a lot items come in fresh from being hunted.

You must be able to work in a busy environment and take instruction. You must have a good basic knowledge of general hygiene and pay attention to the detail of a task. Experience with any knives or in a kitchen would benefit you but not essential.
No specific qualifications required as full training is to be given.
You will complete a level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship. This will be delivered by a vocational learning advisor over 12 months with visits to the work place every 4 weeks. You will complete end point assessment once your 12 months of learning is complete.
You must have a general interest in food, cooking and where food comes from. The right candidate will be wanting to start a career as a chef and happy to take on hard work. Must be able to work with raw food produce
You will become a permanent member of the team and may progress onto a level 3 training programme. Maybe involved in the sourcing of ingredients in the future also.
