The George & Dragon is located in the small village of Hudswell in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It was the first community owned pub in Yorkshire and offers a warm and friendly welcome to everybody. In 2008 the pub ceased trading and was put up for sale, it remained closed for two years until it was bought by the Hudswell Community Pub Ltd. The pub underwent extensive renovations to modernise before re-opening in June 2010. The George & Dragon is at the centre of the local community, offering a little local shop, library, community allotments and free internet access. Stuart Miller is the landlord and has a great passion for quality beers, outstanding affordable food and relaxed friendly service. He is supported by an excellent team including his father Keith and brother Sam who are both outstanding chefs. We’re a small Yorkshire dales pub known for our real ales and good honest food, we’re a little different as we make everything ourselves. We have won awards for our drinks and food.

A great opportunity has become available at The George and Dragon Inn to join the talented kitchen team as an apprentice.We’re a small Yorkshire dales pub known for our real ales and good honest food, we’re a little different as we make everything ourselves and you will be expected to learn all these skills as you train. We have won awards for our drinks and food and are looking for a hardworking and driven apprentice chef to join our small team. The successful candidate will learn hands on and will be guided by our experienced team and family - we are all very passionate about good food and want an apprentice who feels the sameYou will primarily be assisting the main chef in all his day to day duties, this will include:Preparation of food,Vegetables,Meat,Fish,Pies,Bread,Specials,Salads.Also it will involve Cleaning the following:Work areas, Pots & pans,Crockery & Cutlery,Record keeping,Cleaning schedule,Temperatures,Compliance.When required you will be expected to help the front of house staff with serving foods.You will be required to work your way up from small prep and cleaning duties to eventually preparing meals yourself.As an Apprentice you will be included on a Cookery Qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.
Good organisation skills, able to multi-task.Too work quickly and efficiently with limited space.Too learn quickly and look to improve constantly.Troubleshoot and keep a cool head under pressure.

There is a possibility of a full time position on completion of the apprenticeship
