Detailed Job Description

Crowe Clark Whitehill’s school leaver programme is your opportunity to gain professional qualifications and a salaried job without the expense of higher education. The firms trainees will receive comprehensive training and client exposure right from the start, combining the best technical tuition, personal and professional development. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients across a range of sectors and industries, as well as getting involved in a variety of assignments.

The role will involve all aspects of accounts, including:

  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts
  • Preparation of monthly / quarterly commercially focused management accounts
  • Tax computations for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • VAT and Intrastat returns
  • Company secretarial matters and Bookkeeping

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

BBC (or equivalent UCAS points) from three A Levels (or equivalent)

GCSE grades B or above including Maths and English Language

Skills required

  • High level of numeracy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to deal with complex, challenging and sensitive work
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good attention to detail and able to solve problems
  • Able to use initiative and prioritise own workload
  • Able to work flexibly as part of a team, asking for and giving support as needed
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy
  • Able to deal professionally with clients over the telephone, in person and via email

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting – Level 3

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. You’ll learn and master a number of accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

Top five skills you will gain:

  • The importance of professional ethics in the working environment
  • Use of spreadsheets to manage information in the accounting environment
  • Analysing variances
  • Reconciling ledgers
  • Making provisions for doubtful and irrecoverable debts
