We have a very exciting opportunity for an Apprentice QC laboratory Technician at our Wellington site.

In this fast paced laboratory we analyse a variety of different products using a range of wet, physical and analytical chemistry techniques.

Detailed Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • In this role you will train to sample, test and approve incoming raw materials, manufactured product and finished products to ensure that our customers receive fantastic Quality products whilst also studying for a scientific qualification.
  • Work in accordance to good laboratory practice guidelines, must be prepared to undertake study via a day release or distance learning course.
  • Working safely in a laboratory environment.
  • Sampling and testing raw materials, bulks, components and finished goods.
  • Co-ordinate production of samples to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure samples are accurately made and appropriately presented.
  • Operating a wide variety of wet and instrumental analytical methods.
  • Record all observations during samples preparation.
  • Use laboratory equipment.
  • Control of stocks and consumables
  • Maintain a clear and accurate workbook.
  • Compile appropriate sample documentation.
  • Update all appropriate laboratory records.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Update manager on progress/problems, co-ordinate with other departments.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths, Science, English.
  • A Level or equivalent in science desirable

Skills required

  • Basic computer skills
  • Good communication skills

  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work accurately and precisely
  • Able to prioritise

Future prospects

It is the aim with this position to grow our own talent, we would like the successful candidate to grow with us and develop into a QC Technician within our team.

Additional Information

Training provided

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities
  • Extended Diploma in Applied Science Level 3
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English

The wage will be above ANMW and will be discussed at interview.
