Detailed Job Description

The 3 year Manufacturing Apprentice Scheme is designed to provide the necessary training and experiences to develop high calibre Lead Operators. You will be working towards a Level 3 qualification in a Food & Drink Manufacturing Standard.

In the first year you will develop a technical foundation to be built upon throughout your apprenticeship. Over the next year you will be assigned to a shift. The emphasis will be on acquiring operational skills, working on site you will learn how to operate the machinery and the basic maintenance skills required to ensure our plant runs efficiently.

During the final year of your apprenticeship you will become a shift based lead operator in training running a production area demonstrating Operational Excellence and Leadership skills. You will be assigned a mentor to guide and support you throughout your apprenticeship to ensure you have a successful career at Mars.

Duties will include:

  • Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled technical staff
  • To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department
  • Learning and understanding the importance of Health and Safety within the workspace
  • To learn how to maintain workshop equipment and to keep it in good repair
  • To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and laboratory areas

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

5 GCSEs A*-C and you must be happy and able to travel to site as well as to college
