Perkins Engines (Peterborough) wish to recruit Higher Engineering Apprentices to start with us in August 2018. We are looking for bright, committed and enthusiastic people who will play a key role in the future of our company.

Perkins Engines produces over 800,000 engines every year and is part of Caterpillar Inc, the world’s largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. There are endless opportunities for those willing to work hard and progress within the organisation. With over 80 years of business excellence and experience, our award-winning Apprenticeship Scheme provides apprentices with a path to an engaging career that can last a lifetime.

Our Apprenticeship combines College-based learning with on-the-job work experience to give you insight into various engineering job roles within a large business.

This four-year Apprenticeship will combine real, invaluable work experience with college-based academic learning. The apprenticeship develops individuals into technical areas such as:

  • Controls Engineering

  • Engineering: Manufacturing

Engineers develop and create production processes and technology to assure product and process quality. Working with state of the art mechatronics technology such as robots, conveyors, sensors, and much more, they are responsible for designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, as well as conferring with equipment vendors. They are a key, hands-on part of the machining, assembly, test and finish of the product.

Throughout this apprenticeship, you will study Level 4 engineering qualifications – including a BTEC HNC in Engineering (either Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical/Electronics) and a L4 NVQ Diploma, which will evidence on-the-job competency.

On completion of the Apprenticeship Scheme, you will receive your apprenticeship certificate and qualifications will be accredited.

Our apprenticeship scheme is accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), meaning that you can register for free Affiliate IMechE Membership when you successfully enrol in the scheme, and will qualify for professional EngTech accreditation when you complete your qualification.
