Detailed Job Description

The candidate would work full time in the busy salon, which includes a day release in college. Assist stylists in the salon whilst training towards a level 2 NVQ hair qualification.

Completing all duties such as Shampooing, reception and client care. Progressing to further services once training has commenced and the candidate is competent.

Qualifications required

Desirable:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths

Skills required

People skills, hardworking, keen interest in hair.

Personal Qualities

Passionate about the industry and have the appropriate appearance and nature for the industry.

Future prospects

We are looking to fully train someone to become a qualified hairdresser and work in the salon as a full time employee eventually.

Training provided

The programme includes:

  • Advise and consult with clients to develop your knowledge and understanding of the important skills of consulting with your clients to determine their ideas and requirements
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp to develop your knowledge, understanding and skill for shampooing, conditioning and treating the hair and scalp
  • Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to take responsibility for improving your performance at work and working well with your colleagues
  • Style and finish hair to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to style hair using blow drying and finger drying techniques
  • Set and dress hair to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to use a range of setting and dressing techniques to achieve a variety of looks
  • Cut hair to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to create a variety of basic looks
  • Colour and lighten hair to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to change the hair colour using semi-permanent, quasi-permanent, permanent and lightening products You will learn the ability to colour a full head, regrowth and the creation of highlight and lowlight effects
  • Perm and neutralise hair to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to carry out basic perming and neutralising services to the satisfaction of your client
  • Plait and twist hair to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to use plaiting and twisting techniques to achieve a variety of different looks
  • Fulfil salon reception duties to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills of welcoming and receiving people entering the salon, handling enquiries, making appointments, dealing with client payments and generally maintaining the reception area.
