We are looking to recruit an apprentice to support our human resources team here at AP Security. You will assist the department in a number of different areas of the HR function along with taking responsibility for certain routine tasks. It is important that you are a highly organised individual with attention to detail. You will be required to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in human resources who wishes to study the level 3 apprenticeship program.

Detailed Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join an established and well known company in the events security industry. We are seeking a human resources apprentice to join our growing team in Watford, Hertfordshire. This job will suit someone who is looking to join a busy, fast paced environment within a medium sized team.

Duties will include:

  • Answering calls in a professional manner
  • Providing support to the team, scanning, printing and filing
  • Ordering stock, uniform and equipment
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
  • Checking application forms and identification documents
  • Note taking and admin support in HR meetings (e.g. Disciplinary meetings)
  • Create staff personnel files – scan documents
  • Send for employment and character references
  • Completion of incoming employment reference checks
  • Putting together contracts and starter packs for new employees
  • Set up and maintain staff on staff scheduling system
  • Liaise with other departments to resolve HR queries
  • Book applicants on recruitment open days and training
  • Conduct company inductions for new employees
  • Communicate with staff to maintain files and update expired documents
  • Check and reply to HR emails in a professional manner
  • Assisting in payroll preparation

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths

Skills required

Good written and spoken communication skills

Strong organisational skills

Keen to learn new skills

Able to prioritise effectively

PC literacy and experience with MS Office applications

Personal Qualities

A reliable individual who is of smart appearance as this is an office based role

Shows initiative to be able to work individually as well as in a team

Polite, friendly, cheerful outgoing personality with a commitment to helping people

Future prospects

Progression available for the right candidate – candidate could progress into human resources specific roles – screening & vetting /training and development

Additional Information

Training provided

Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Human Resources. All learning will be done in the workplace; you may need to attend the occasional workshop in College. If you need to complete Functional Skills, you will be required to attend College once a week for at least the first 3 months.

Monday to Friday but some flexibility is required for occasional evening or weekend work Please consider travel arrangements as our office is not easily accessible via public transport.
