Detailed Job Description

This is an opportunity to become part of the Suzuki Apprenticeship programme as a Service Technician. Supported throughout by a dedicated employer - this vacancy is for a 3 year Apprenticeship that will resulting the successful candidate gaining an Advanced Apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. As a Service Technician you would be involved in a variety of tasks ranging from; Servicing and repairs

Replacing components

Using specialist equipment such as electrical and electronic diagnostics

Engine tuning equipment to measure performance

Rectifying faults on customer’s vehicles in a busy Suzuki workshop

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A-C in




Please ensure you list all your qualifications, as lower grades may be considered

Skills required

No specific skills required, however an interest in motor vehicles would be beneficial.

Training provided

This is a Service Technician Apprenticeship, training is delivered by block release at the Suzuki apprentice training centre at Doncaster, S.Yorks. With assessments being conducted in the work place by an assessor. As a result you will receive the following qualification: Level 2 & 3 VCQ & VRQ Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and RepairFunctional Skills in English, Maths, ICT (if required)Employment Rights and Responsibilities

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. Candidates are advised to apply as soon as possible, as the employer will start to interview as soon as applications are received. This may mean the vacancy may close before the date advertised. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. Your training will be delivered as block release, which will involve extended periods away from home (1 week blocks). This is on a twin room basis. Single rooms are available at an additional cost. The cost of travel and accommodation is met by the employer.
