This fantastic opportunity will provide the successful apprentice with a rewarding career to train as a qualified hair stylist. You will be working directly with the Salon Manager, shadowing her and learning all aspects of assisting with the day to day running of the salon which includes the art of becoming a professional and fully qualified stylist with day release at Harrogate College. Initially you will be carrying out reception duties including making hot drinks for clients including observing and supporting the Manager whilst she is with the customer. You will be responsible for providing an excellent customer service from meeting and greeting the clients in a professional and polite manner to washing hair. You will also assist the stylist’s as required and keep the salon tidy. You will be trained and supported in all aspects of hairdressing from basic shampooing and conditioning treatments, to blow drying, setting and hair styling for all types of hair and clientele.
All our apprentices are offered Stylist positions on successful completion of their apprenticeship.
Intermediate NVQ in Hair Professional, plus functional skills and technical certificate. The training will be provided by Harrogate College.
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
