Detailed Job Description

We are looking to recruit an apprentice ’Office Assistant’ for our offices in Bideford. This position is ideal for someone wanting to learn a broad range of office, computer and website skills. Duties will include: - Answering the telephone and taking enquiries - Passing on enquiries by telephone and email - Website work - updating, creating and optimising web pages - Word-processing and spreadsheet work - Searching the internet - Copying and pasting information between programs - General office duties including filing, data collection and photocopying and scanning documents

Qualifications required

GCSE English Language Grade C or higher (or equivalent) GCSE Maths Grade C or higher (or equivalent)

Skills required

Computer literacy and competence essential Good telephone manner and communication skills Good English Good timekeeping Quick learner Ability to work unsupervised and / or on own initiative on occasions

Personal Qualities

Trustworthy and honest Team player Easy going with good sense of humour Hard working with flexible attitude Willing to learn new skills or improve on existing skills

Future prospects

If agreeable to both sides there is an opportunity that you may be taken on as an employee after the apprenticeship period.

Training provided

Every business needs administrators. Without administrators, information would be hard to find, meetings would be missed and businesses would be less productive. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail. You will need to secure employment with an appropriate work place employer and study one day a week at college (term time only) You will provide a portfolio of evidence - Combined Diploma in Business and Admin level 2 - this will include a mixed range of evidence including knowledge assignments as well as work based assessment reports. The aim of this qualification is to: • develop/expand candidates’ understanding of Business Administration • develop candidates’ skills and competence in Business Administration. This will give candidates the opportunity to: • achieve a nationally recognized qualification valued by employers • prepare to progress in employment in a Business Administration role • develop skills and competence in the workplace • continue professional development.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship.
