We are looking for an apprentice to join one of the earliest courses to be established on the north side of London. To help with maintenance and upkeep of the golf course.

Detailed Job Description

Learning all aspects of green keeping including daily preparation of the course using various machinery plus general and specialised turf care.

All areas of golf course maintenance will be covered with on course training Porters Park is an eighteen hole private member’s club. There is seven members of staff.

Daily duties will include

  • Cut greens
  • Cut tees/surrounds
  • Cut fairways
  • Cut rough
  • Change holes
  • Raking bunkers
  • Brush/switch greens

Monday to Friday 7a.m-3.p.m plus weekend rota

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

A minimum of A*-D (9-3) in Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills equivalent

Skills required

Friendly outgoing who can use their own initiative and is willing to work outside all year round

Personal Qualities

Career orientated person who has good timekeeping, works well in a crowd or on their own keen to learn and not afraid of manual work whilst having an interest in golf and an appreciation of the outdoors

Future prospects

On course and college learning apprenticeship giving great prospects for working in golf industry in the Uk and world wide

Training provided

Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Green Keeping

Negotiable up to 12k dependant on age experience. License required along with transport to/from work
