In your apprenticeship with us you will learn the importance of attention to detail when meeting guests in a 4* hospitality environment. This includes assisting guests with their arrivals and departures as well as any questions that they may have. Detailed Job Description

  • Reporting to the Front of House Manager, as our Front of House Apprentice you will be responsible for creating an outstanding first impression to guests and non-residents alike.
  • You will be required to liaise with other departments to ensure all guests’ requests are catered for.
  • You will take the opportunity to really get to know our guests and anticipate their needs, always going the extra mile where possible.

Further responsibilities:

  • Work with Porters, Bellman, Doorman and Housekeeping to ensure the lounge and public areas are clean and tidy at all times, including events set-ups and outside areas.
  • Deliver a 5* highly professional yet personal service to each and every guest.
  • Build an excellent rapport with all guests from the moment they arrive until the moment they depart.
  • Conduct show-around(s) of the hotel facilities as required.

The programme involves developing effective knowledge, behaviours and skills in topics as:

  • Meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Receiving and dealing with customer feedback.
  • Understanding how your role contributes to the financial performance of the business.
  • Communicating clearly and engaging customers to build positive relationships.
  • Positively promoting the organisation to increase customer loyalty.
  • Preparing and serving wines and cocktails.
  • Preparing and serving hot drinks.
  • Providing counter, buffet, take-away and carvery service.
  • House keeping.
  • Managing stock.
  • Carrying out reception, concierge and guest services.
  • Providing a positive customer service – creating a positive impression of the organisation.
  • Promoting additional services and up-selling and resolving customer service problems.
  • Maintaining health, safety and security of the working environment including food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Working as part of a team Hospitality Team Member Apprentices must select from one of the following specialist functions: Food & Beverage, Alcoholic Beverage Service, Barista, Food Production, Concierge and Guest Services, House Keeping, Reception.


To gain the Hospitality Team Member Intermediate apprenticeship you will attend skills seminars at college.

Shifts will vary depending on business needs. Will include some weekends, morning & evening shifts. Pay will be reviewed after probation period, used to assess capability and performance.
