Chaxhill Hall Residential Home is a long established registered home for the elderly including dementia care. It is situated just off the main Gloucester to Chepstow road (A48). The home overlooks the river Severn across to the Cotswolds. Chaxhill is within easy walking distance of a shop and the wonderful Severn and Wye Valley Smokery who serve a multitude of food dishes, wonderful place to take lunch. Chaxhill Hall also has a wonderful well maintained garden and decking area overlooking the fish pond and very pleasant views over the farming landscape.The home accommodates and provides personal care for up to 36 residents. We also offer day care and respite care. All staff are trained in using assistive equipment for example hoists and bath seats etc.The home has a full time maintenance man, who works to make the home as comfortable as possible. Here at Chaxhill Hall we aim to provide a safe, warm and homely environment. The home will provide support and stimulation to enable residents to live as normal a life as possible as far as their capabilities will allow. Residents will be encouraged to continue and or resume their hobbies and interest and to participate in recreational activities. We aim to treat residents individually to a high standard of care by maintaining privacy, dignity, independence, choices, rights and fulfilment. We also work with other professionals including GP’s, district nurses, physic therapists, chiropodists etc. Some of the activities that take place at the home consist of the following. Cinema club – every other Monday Cake making Sing-a-longs On site salon with visiting hairdresser One to one reminiscence Exercises Trips to local restaurant for tea and cake Outings arranged Pen pal programme Seasonal Parties Quizzes and Bingo Local Vicar visits for communion.

A great opportunity has arisen at Chaxhill care home. They are looking for an apprentice to join the care team.
As a Care Assistant, you will be in the centre of the everyday lives of the residents, and have a vital role in the care home. This position is very rewarding and requires you to have a friendly personality with a willingness to help others.
Your tasks will include;
• Helping residents with their daily tasks,
• Assisting with personal hygiene,
• Supporting residents with meal times
• Comply with CQC fundamental standards policies and procedures at all times
• Report concerns/issues as appropriate
• Record Correct documentation
• Deliver a care plan
• Identify and report signs of poor practice or abuse
• Ensure health and safety standards are met You will look after elderly patients, some of who will be in the earliest stages of dementia.
As an apprentice you will be included on a health and social care qualification, this will involve a vocational learning advisor from an award winning provider who will visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and observe you whilst you work.

Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standards has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English. Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
