Exciting opportunity to complete an Apprenticeship Programme in Children and Young People’s Workforce with Borrowby Nursery School in Thirsk
.The role is to work as part of a small team, it requires caring for all the children’s care needs alongside assisting with cleaning duties.
We are looking for someone who enjoys spending time with a variety of aged children and is willing to learn the entire job role.
You will also be working towards gaining a childcare qualification that includes the study of children’s development.
Some of the duties you will undertake will include:
Supervising children’s play and learning activities
Supporting children’s hygiene routines
Completing children’s learning and development files to a high standard
Cooking and assisting with food preparation for lunch and tea occasionally.
Baking with the children.
Assisting at meal times and with feeding.
Contributing to planned programmes of activities.
Liaising with parents and carers.
Following Health and Safety at all times.
Working as part of a team to set-up the rooms and clear down at the end of the day plus cleaning duties.
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Children’s & Young Persons Workforce Apprenticeship. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Regional Trainer coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

Enthusiastic about working with children.
You will need to have good communication skills
Use your own initiative
Willing to take direction from the Childcare team in the room.
Willing to complete the necessary work towards the Apprenticeship.
GSCE Maths and English GRADES A-C or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
Level 2 Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship
Each framework includes a diploma/certificate which shows the practical skills, a technical certificate to confirm the knowledge and understanding and Functional Skills in Maths and English.
You will be assessed throughout the apprenticeship and complete the qualification based on the competencies within your job role.
You will be assessed by a combination of observations, professional discussion, question and answer sessions and self-study which is required to confirm your knowledge and understanding of the career route you have chosen.
We are looking for someone who is kind with a positive attitude and enthusiastic.
Have an interest in Children and their learning and development.
The apprenticeship once completed could lead to a position in the setting which leads to further childcare qualifications. Your wages will also increase.
