Description

Tin Drum Nursery requires an Apprentice Nursery Assistant to join their workforce.

You will help provide care and activities for children aged 6 months to 5 years. You will be supporting other staff, working alongside a small strong team within the 4 different rooms of the nursery. You will develop an understanding of the EYFS, and have an up to date knowledge of the nursery’s policies specifically Safeguarding and Child Protection. You will be enrolled on a childcare qualification and assigned a mentor during the apprenticeship.

You will be required to;

•Understand each child as an individual and have a general understanding of childcare and child development

•Observe each child’s progress and report on achievements looking for progression and continuity

•Develop positive and trusting relationships with children, parents, carers, staff and outside agencies

•Provide daily feedback to parents and carers

•Assist with the supervision of children at play (indoor and outdoor) and at mealtimes

•Learn how to plan, prepare and participate in a range of activities that promote children’s learning and development;

•Learn how to be key person for a group of children, by observing, monitoring and accurately recording each child’s development in line with the EYFS.

•Learn how to help children become independent through helping them acquire self-help skills, including, dressing, feeding, toilet training and an awareness of personal hygiene;

•Learn how to provide high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children

•Understand how to demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion •Learn how to continuously improve the quality of childcare and education

•Learn about how to keep children safe and understand when and how to follow Safeguarding Procedures

•Understand and ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with.

As an Apprentice you will be included on a Childcare Qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

They need to be able to work well within a small friendly team.

They must ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, in line with our Safeguarding policy.

No qualifications are necessary. The candidate will receive relevant training such as Paediatric First Aid, Food hygiene and Safeguarding.

Level 2 Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship

Each framework includes a diploma/certificate which shows the practical skills, a technical certificate to confirm the knowledge and understanding and Functional Skills in Maths and English.

You will be assessed throughout the apprenticeship and complete the qualification based on the competencies within your job role.

You will be assessed by a combination of observations, professional discussion, question and answer sessions and self-study which is required to confirm your knowledge and understanding of the career route you have chosen.

The candidate must have good communication skills (written, verbal and listening),

show initiative,

be professional,

kind,

calm and willing to learn.

The position may possibly lead to being based in a particular room as a ’number 2’ supporting the room leader once Level 3 qualification is completed.
