Description
The Hampshire Court Hotel are looking for an Apprentice Commis Chef to join their experienced team. Within the job you will be supporting a professional, vibrant team on creating healthy and diverse food. You will gain experience in every section of the kitchen from an accomplished head chef and team. There is also the possibility of gaining restaurant experience if desired.
Duties Include:
Food preparation
Preparing ingredients for dishes upon the instructions of the chef
Making sure that food supplies are stored properly and used resourcefully
Arranging food items on serving plates
Making sure that the kitchen is clean and organised at all times
Ensure that best food practices and kitchen hygiene protocols are adhered to
Maintaining a ’clean as you go’ work ethic
You will gain experience of working in a real fully functioning kitchen and be given the opportunity to be involved in our Arena events - these can cater to up to 1500 delegates!
Your Commis Chef Qualification will be delivered to you in the workplace by a leading training provider!

Open personality, able to communicate well. Willing to learn lots of varying roles. Good timekeeping, able to work well as part of a team. Ability to learn and pick up skills by watching and practising.
No specific qualifications are required, however basic maths and English skills are desirable.
Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standards has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.
Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.

Completing an Apprenticeship in the kitchen will open many further opportunities for you. There is a clear succession route for you in our kitchen and your next step would be Commis Chef. There would then be further opportunity to move into a (Demi) Chef de Partie role and who knows, you could be our future Head Chef!
