Detailed Job Description

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

LAND APPRAISALS

  • Produce of financial appraisals for potential site acquisitions
  • Liaise with landbuyers
  • Challenge assumptions made and enforce appraisal standards.
  • Input financial data into Excel appraisal.
  • Generate summary land acquisition schedule as required.
  • Produce other general land related reports.

FINANCE BOARD REPORT

  • Analyse and produce reports for Board report including sales/build analysis. Produce
  • hard copy trial balances in designated format.
  • Produce aftersales and maintenance report.
  • Update site appraisals with forecast data for input to monthly board report. Input and reconcile data in calc check file and explain variances.
  • Reconcile unallocated costs.
  • Finalise and issue formal calcs.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT

  • Input sales releases, reservations, exchanges and completions (and cancellations).
  • Reconcile data entered to source documents.
  • Run reports from COINS database and validate data to sales reports
  • Query and resolve differences with sales department.
  • Timely collection of supporting documentation from sales department.
  • Data collection on joint venture and other ad hoc projects from sales department.
  • Produce release and exchange trend reports.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • Minimum 2 A Levels (any subject) and 5 A-C grade GCSE’s inc. English and Maths
  • AAT qualified (Technician level) also accepted

Skills required

Essential – Spreadsheet skills (EXCEL) Previous experience in an office environment. Basic accounting experience and awareness.

Advantageous - Previous COINS system experience (not essential as training will be given). Database skills (LOTUS 123) (not essential as training will be given).

  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Flexible approach to workload.

Future prospects

There is potential to progress to a Management Accountant role in the team once qualified.

Training provided

Full on-the-job training and support will be provided to enable the successful applicant to undertake the full range of duties required of the role. All apprentices are required to complete and evidence 20% of the job learning whilst on their apprenticeship.

In addition, the apprenticeship will be delivered primarily on our online platform, Babington Online and you will receive full support from our dedicated team of Training Advisors via workshops, webinars and regularly scheduled reviews, conducted by Skype and/or Phone.

Our Accounting Professional Level 7 Programme consists of the following:

  • Accounting Professional Level 7 Standard
  • Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy Level 2
  • End-point Assessment conducted by an external provider (Synoptic case study, project report)

The end-point assessment is designed to enable apprentices to demonstrate that they are fully conversant in the skills knowledge and behaviours expected of individuals at this level. It is designed to provide assessors with a holistic view of the apprentice, and to allow them to assess to what extent the apprentice meets or exceeds the apprenticeship standard.
