As part of the University’s Apprenticeship Training Program, the Finance Department wish to recruit a Trainee Accounting Apprentice under the Government’s Intermediate Apprenticeship Scheme.
The successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of University Finance with rotation across a wide variety of finance services to gain a broad understanding of a financial environment within the Higher Education sector including payment services, financial management and tax.
The apprenticeship will be provided in conjunction with Kaplan Financial where the successful candidate will attend on day release to obtain an Accounting Technician qualification.
Applicants should have, or be expected to achieve, five GCSEs or equivalent at grade A* - C (or new grading equivalent) including Mathematics and English, preferably all at grade B or above (or new grading equivalent).
Model traits include good written and verbal communication skills, as well as good general computer skills. Being able to demonstrate high professional standards and ethics is key. This includes a positive attitude towards learning, using your initiative in a proactive manner and prioritising your workload.
The role requires strong organisation and problem solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy.
Previous work experience in an office environment is preferable and customer service skills would be advantageous, alongside an understanding of confidentiality within the workplace however, not essential.

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns.
