About The Apprenticeship Scheme
The ALS Next Generation Scheme is designed to identify talented future leaders.
The scheme provides individuals with a national apprenticeship qualification alongside fast track route to management. As an ALS Apprentice you will work within the Distribution Centre experiencing all aspects of the Warehouse operation. You will work in all depot departments to support Asda's Top Talent Apprenticeship Programme. You’ll be surrounded by state-of-the-art technology that helps us move, stack and track goods. Better still, you'll be part of a close-knit team with one shared purpose - to get the right products to the right stores, at the right time.
Our Depots come in all shapes and sizes, employing anywhere between 200 and 1,200 colleagues. Meaning you could play an important part in keeping us up and running in our busy Warehouse Depots where great customer service starts with you. You will report to your mentor who will be the Regional Operations Manager along with attending monthly visits with your Babcock Regional Trainer who will support your learning and development throughout your apprenticeship. Role Summary
The things you'll be doing, day to day:
•Collecting, moving and stacking products. It’s not like running a marathon, but you’ll still be on your feet and doing plenty of bending and lifting, so you’ll need a reasonable level of fitness
•Using all our handling equipment (don’t worry, we’ll fully train you on how to use all the equipment safely and effectively
•You’ll be ‘picking’ goods by Store or product group and there are standards of performance required within each Depot, so you’ll need to be able to work under pressure and follow procedure
•Occasionally you might feel like you’re working alone using our systems but don’t worry we will give you clear instructions on what you need to do
•We’re one big team, so we’re looking for helpful, outgoing people who can get along with and support others
•Completion of logistic based modules to gain the following qualifications
?Level 2 – Equivalent to Intermediate GNVQ or 4 - 5 GCSE passes, these provide the skills an employee needs for their chosen career and provide a good platform for progression onto to an advanced apprenticeship.
?Level 3 – Equivalent to 2 A level passes, these frameworks develop first line management skills and/or advanced technical skills.

Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.
Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.

This vacancy is for a permanent position within ASDA during which an apprenticeship programme will be delivered.
