The TV and broadcasting industry is thriving, and with the likes of Netflix, Disney+ and many other streaming giants, this industry shows no signs of slowing down. So we’ve teamed up with Channel 4 to bring you 4Skills Work experience. 

This online opportunity introduces you to real people within the creative industry, giving you a taste of what it’s like to work in television.

You’ll be set real-world challenges, discover your potential career match, and get the insider scoop from current Channel 4 employers. The six-week programme covers all the major steps that a TV programme goes through before hitting our screens: ideation, pitching, creating, filming and production, and analysing its success.

Once you’ve completed the programme you’ll receive a certificate that you can include on your CV and LinkedIn profile.

Here's everything you need to know:

Do I have to pay to sign up? No! 4Skills Work Experience is a free virtual programme, run by Channel 4 and GetMyFirstJob.

How long do I have to complete it? You've got six weeks to complete all five modules. The timer starts once you begin the first module. 

When can I sign up? You can register on the website whenever you like – they’ll keep in touch and let you know. But individual programmes open for registration on 22nd November 2022, 1st February 2023, 1st May 2023, and 4th September 2023. 

Am I eligible to sign up? Anyone aged 16+ can sign up for the work experience programme, but it will be particularly beneficial to you if you have less than 6 months of experience in the creative industry. 

Will the programme get me a job? This programme is not a feeder into a role at Channel 4. However, the skills and knowledge gained along the way provide an excellent experience to add to your CV and will allow you to explore what career pathway could be right for you.
