As a graphic designer, you’ll be listening to clients and understanding their needs and then make design decisions. Although most people tend to design videos to social media posts or collateral for events when they start. You could even be working on websites, computer games, magazines, posters and corporate identity.
If you’ve got creative flair and know how to use industry software, a graphic design apprenticeship could be for you. Apprenticeships in graphic design are currently at intermediate and advanced level. From design assistant, to technical illustrator to junior artworker and copywriter. At intermediate level, you’ll probably be supporting designers with the design and production of projects. You could also be writing briefs, producing marketing material and liaising with staff from other departments. Our top tip for this is to be confident and bring your own ideas to the table too!
As you progress to an advanced level graphic designer apprentice, you would be working both online and offline. You’ll probably be given the opportunity to take a project from their initial brief all the way to completion!
You should show a keen interest in the industry and also have a creative flair. If you’ve got good communication, love solving a problem and strive to have good customer service, a graphic design apprenticeship could suit you perfectly.
