C F Roberts Electrical & Mechanical Services are looking for the next cohort of Electrical apprentices to successfully complete a 4 year apprenticeship, whilst working alongside skilled engineers in a commercial and industrial environment throughout the UK.

Apprentices must be able to take instruction, be a good communicator and have manual dexterity
Driving license desirable due to the requirement to travel as part of the role
Although GCSE (or equivalent) Grades A*-C/9-4 in Maths, English Language and Science are desirable, and knowledge or use of ICT preferred, CF Roberts will also consider applicants who are willing to develop these through additional training to include Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship programme
The successful candidate must be reliable, flexible, calm, patient and persistent, with strong attention to detail
You must be self-motivated and enthusiastic and work well using your own initiative
Willingness to work away from home as required by the organisation is essential
Having the right attitude, work ethic and commitment to your education as well as your employment are essential requirements to this role
The Electrical industry can be fast paced and demanding. Often you will be required to work away from home on projects around the UK. This apprenticeship may also have unsociable hours of work due to the nature of the business.
On receipt of your application, you will be required to complete a CF Roberts application form and return it along with a copy of your CV. The company will then review shortlisted applicants. If you are successful, you will be contacted by CF Roberts for an interview, following an interview at SGS College.
The National Minimum Wage for an apprentice from 1st April 2022 is £4.81 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates from 1st April 2022 are £6.83 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £9.18 for 21-22 year olds and £9.50 for anyone aged 23 and over. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in electrical installation and to apply these skills in a real and growing business environment. Previous apprentices within the organisation have progressed into roles to include either office or site supervision or management. Progression opportunities will be discussed with you if/where available.
CF Roberts was founded in Hereford in 1935, as electricians and retailers of electrical appliances. The CF Roberts of today provides comprehensive electrical and mechanical design, installation and maintenance services for projects throughout the UK. Today, the Company employs around 270 people and is still growing. There is still a base in Hereford, but the company expanded into new headquarters in Cheltenham in the 1970s.
This is still very much a family business. Cyril Roberts founded the Company and was succeeded as Chairman by his son Michael. Grandson Paul is the Managing Director.
The Roberts family has built the Company since the 1930s by consistently demonstrating an attitude of professionalism, quality, reliability and, above all, integrity. It is a simple philosophy but one that remains at the heart of the modern multi million pound company that is the CF Roberts of the 21st century.
