Able to work quickly and efficiently whilst maintaining a professional manner at all times
Able to work to a high level of accuracy and show attention to detail
Prepared to undertake all tasks in the practice such as manning the reception area, booking appointments, cleaning equipment and surgery
Good communication skills
Organised
Must demonstrate good timekeeping and attendance
To be accepted onto the apprenticeship, you must hold GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent or Functional Skills at Level 2) in both maths and English.
Friendly and pleasant manner
Able to build relationships with both colleagues and patients
Calm under pressure
Able to reassure when dealing with nervous patients
Able to work as part of a team
Prepared to undertake any task
Able to manage the pressure of both college and practice workload
You will need to undertake Hepatitis B vaccinations and a clear DBS check to work in the clinical environment.
There are a wide range of opportunities available to enable registered dental nurses to extend their clinical duties and develop their knowledge and skills within particular areas of interest, for example:
Dental radiography
Oral health education
Sedation dental nursing
Orthodontic dental nursing
Special care dental nursing
Oral surgery dental nursing
Taking dental impressions
The application of topical fluoride
Dental nurses may also progress onto university to become a dental hygienist/therapist.
