Teaching and education
Early years teachers are specialists in early childhood development and work with children up to the age of 5.
You'll need to get early years teacher status (EYTS) and meet the teacher's standards by completing an early years initial teacher training course. There are several ways to do this:
You'll usually need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English, maths and science and 2 to 3 A-Levels, or equivalent.

Once qualified, you could move into management of a nursery or group of nurseries. You could work as a supply teacher or take further training to become a primary school teacher or play therapist. You might also move into teaching early years courses at university.
Further education (FE) lecturers teach adults, students and apprentices on academic and work-related courses
Secondary school teachers teach children from 11 to 16, or up to 19 in schools with sixth forms.
British Sign Language (BSL) teachers teach sign language to children, young people and adults, and teach other subjects using sign language.
Teaching assistants support teachers and help children with reading, writing and learning activities.
Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) assessors support and assess vocational qualifications, helping trainees meet standards.
Special educational needs (SEN) teachers work with children and young people who have special educational needs or disabilities.
