Overview:



We are looking for an apprentice Full Stack Developer to produce scalable software solutions. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment.



As an apprentice Full Stack Developer, you will be trained in both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks and third-party libraries. You be a team player with an interest and motivation for visual design and utility.



You will become familiar with Agile methodologies and how to produce great products working in this way.



Main Responsibilities:



You will be trained in and become proficient at the following:





  • Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions


  • Write code to create client-side and server-side components


  • Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design


  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications


  • Write effective APIs


  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency


  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software


  • Create security and data protection settings


  • Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design


  • Write technical documentation


  • Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software 




Required skills and personal qualities:





  • Demonstrate: mathematical ability, syntactical appreciation, attention to detail, ability to problem solve by breaking down larger problems into smaller ones.


  • Show aptitude to become a Full Stack Developer


  • Understand the challenges of developing desktop and mobile applications


  • Demonstrate good communication and team work


  • Great attention to detail


  • Organizational skills


  • An analytical mind




Any personal experience (especially personal projects) in the following would be great to see:





  • Front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)


  • Back End languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)


  • Databases or Database concepts (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design


  • Object Orientated programming 




Entry requirements:





  • Level 3 Software apprenticeship, or


  • A Level in a STEM subject (within the Technology and Maths fields only) and successful completion of our


  • Aptitude Test, or


  • BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test, or




A minimum of 12 months of experience within the last 24 months or 18 months in the last 36 months in an IT role. Specific roles that are acceptable are:





  • IT Support roles e.g. Help Desk, First line


  • Software testing or any work that utilises basic coding


  • Any other technical job that uses IT equipment or software


  • Any data analytics or reporting related role




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. The learners would still be required to successfully pass the Aptitude Test at first attempt.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
