Description

Crabbick Farm is a busy livery yard with 25 stables, located on the edge of Denmead, Hampshire who have a small but friendly supportive team to welcome a new apprentice with equine appearance.


We are looking for a reliable and punctual individual who is not afraid of hard work in all weathers.

Main duties will be attending to the day to day care of the full livery horses such as mucking and skipping out, feeding, hay and watering, changing rugs, turn out and bring in, grooming.

There will also be opportunities to learn about breeding and support with mares and foals.

Although this is not offered as a riding position there may be opportunities for an apprentice to ride or learn to drive horses if they wish.

There may be opportunities to attend shows and events as a groom including stay away shows for the right candidate.


We would like someone with passion and drive who is committed to working in the industry. We will support you in achieving your goals and aspirations if you are willing to put the effort in to achieve them.

also note we do not allow mobile phones/headphones etc to used during working hours!


Days: Monday - Friday with the possibility of some weekends to cover staff holidays.

Hours: 8.30 - 12.30pm, 1 hour lunch break, 1.30 - 3.30pm

We would prefer applicants to have had some experience of caring for horses. This can be voluntary or as a horse owner themselves. Having ridden in a riding school is a start but we need to know this is a career you want to follow and are committed to the role.

GCSE Level 4/ Grade C in Maths and English or equivalent.
Call Haddon Training to discuss if not yet achieved - Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills Maths and English

Mature with a can do attitude and shows a willingness towards learning.

We hope to be able to offer any apprentices a full time position at the end of their apprenticeship. We also employ a head groom and a yard manager so there is room for career progression at Crabbick Farm.

No Accommodation Livery for own horse may be possible
