We are now looking for an exceptional first line helpdesk engineer to enhance our front-line Helpdesk. You will be responsible for resolving technical issues, recognising when to escalate to ensure fastest resolution and recommending solutions and new products to customers to maximise their IT investment. You will be responsible for:





  • Providing hardware support and installations covering PC, Server, networking, Firewalls, Wi-Fi and disaster recovery


  • Providing software support and installations covering Windows 10, Active Directory, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 (support, admin and migration), Virtualisation Hyper V / VMware


  • Completing customer change requests in line with agreed change management process and SLA’s


  • Progressing and actioning all assigned tickets and ensuring actions are fully documented in PSA tool


  • Escalating tickets where necessary to second/third line support


  • Updating and creating Knowledge Management documentation




You will need the following skills:





  • Understanding of hardware, software, network and infrastructure technologies


  • Office 365 support and administration


  • Microsoft Windows 10 /11 support and administration


  • Proven experience in a customer facing first/second line position, preferably for an MSP


  • Technical certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, CompTIA are desireable


  • Clean driving licence, own car


  • The ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide root cause analysis


  • The ability to adapt to rapidly changing needs and priorities


  • Good communication skills and ability to relay technical issues in non-technical language


  • Enthusiasm


  • The ability to work under own initiative


  • A proactive attitude




Entry requirements:



The entry requirements for this Cloud Network Specialist programme are as follows:





  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject


  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)


  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.



If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:



37.5 hours per week



Future prospects:



92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education. To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
