Overview:Cincom Systems (UK) Ltd is looking to recruit a Software Development Apprentice (Level 4), to train to develop customisations, enhancements and interfaces for our customer applications. The role will involve liaising with other employees, as well as being involved in upgrade services projects and some enhancement work. The candidate will join an experienced services team, who will train and mentor as appropriate.
Key information:
- Working hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 37.5hrs a week
- Probationary period of 6 months during which employee is on 1 weeks’ notice – sick pay is not paid during the probationary period – only SSP where applicable
- Following Probation, standard notice period is 1 month on either side
Functional Responsibilities:
- Developing customisations or enhancements to our core products, specifically in the product configuration and sales automation
- Analyse customer requirements, then design, develop and test solutions or enhancements to Cincom’s products to suit the customer’s needs. The candidate will be involved in all phases of a project development lifecycle from discussion of requirements with customers through to project closure
Support:
- Investigating and recording complex problems using Root Cause Analysis
- Developing fixes to defects for non-standard products (extensions and interfaces)
- Liaising with Consulting Services, Support, Product Management and Engineering for the resolution of product defects
- Jointly with the customer and other Cincom personnel, investigating performance issues and developing resolutions
Application Management:
- Adhere to agreed change control processes on customer environments
- Applying product patches and service packs
- Managing the Cincom solution including checking error logs, and taking appropriate action
- Documenting customer specific support and application management processes
- Design, development, testing and implementing of customer extensions, as required by the customer
- Documenting customer interactions in Cincom support systems
- Providing status updates to customers and involved Cincom personnel

- A demonstrated interest in computer Science and computer programming.
Entry requirements:
- The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
- OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR 2 years’ experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Career Development:We have a flexible career strategy that allows Apprentices to progress as a developer through the grades, to take on leadership roles, to move into a more customer facing role as a consultant or pre-sales consultant or to move into a pure product engineering role with our engineering group. The natural progression following successful completion of the apprenticeship programme would initially be to the position of Associate Analyst/Programmer.
