Description

Equine Groom for Livery/ Event Yard

The yard is primarily a livery yard offering full livery. The yard is run by Donna Smith who is a List 3 British Dressage Judge, BHSAI & Event/ Dressage Rider. Donna was also previously an event groom to CCI***** level.

The yard caters for up to 20 horses and the role would include all stable duties as well as competition prep, land/ yard maintenance and a full insight into what it takes to run a yard and business.

There are also regular clinics and lessons which the successful applicant can assist with/ learn from. Possibility to groom at training/ competitions when the opportunities arise.

There is the opportunity to ride/ exercise horses but this is not paramount to the role. Reliability is paramount as well as a keen-ness to learn and a passion and genuine love for horses.


Ideally the candidate will have had some experience of horses as I need my clients to be able to trust that those dealing with the horses are competent. Someone who is Friendly and happy, reliable, hard working and resilient.

On completion of the apprenticeship I would be happy to take on permanently for the right candidate. As a BHSAI there could be possibility of training training towards BHS exams for the right candidate.


Day are flexible but will need to be at least one weekend day. Hours are usually either 7am - 2pm or 11am - 5pm (flexible).

Wage is very competitive: Under 18's £5.50/ 18 & over £6.83

Possible space for livery of own horse.

Is is essential that you have some experience of horses and need to be competent in handling them.

GCSE Level 4/ Grade C in Maths and English or equivalent.

Contact Haddon Training to discuss if not yet achieved - Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills Maths and English
