Description

Wingham Wildlife Park is a family run wildlife park with big emphasis on animal husbandry, conservation and education. They are looking for candidates with a passion and interest in animals, with a willingness to learn and adapt to different environments.

Key responsibilities will be;

  • the day to day husbandry of animals on their section
  • observational note taking
  • assisting with preparing diets
  • providing enrichment and assisting with animal training.
  • Conducting public talks and guest experience.
  • Maintaining exhibits and other areas
  • 24 month fixed term contract, statutory holiday, staff discounts, in house training, plus access to an extensive training budget covering external workshops.

Some animal related experience would be desirable but not essential. GCSE grade 9-4 or equivalent in Maths and English.
All training provided at the employers premises with the employer and Haddon training.
Strong interest in animal care of exotic species, conservation and a willingness to learn new skills. Happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Good verbal and written communication skills. Willing to adapt to different situations and able to work under pressure. Excellent observation skills and to be self motivated. Must be physically fit to meet the demands of the role.
Possibility of further employment after completion of the apprenticeship. Access to an extensive training budget which can cover external online CPD relevant courses.

Working 5 out of 7 days per week on a rota based system Monday-Sunday.

Hours of work either 8am - 4:30pm or 9am - 5:30pm.

Positions available on Reptiles/Inverts. Must be able to work weekends/bank holidays and school holidays
