You could get into this job through a Level 2 or 3 food and drink process operator apprenticeship. You'll usually need some GCSEs, usually including English and maths, or equivalent, for a Level 2 apprenticeship 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths, for a Level 3 apprenticeship.

With experience, you could become a shift supervisor or move into quality control. You could improve your job prospects by taking an industry qualification like a diploma in food team leading.

Domestic appliance service engineers install and repair household items like washing machines, TVs and fridges.
Kitchen porters clean, wash up and prepare food to keep hotel, restaurant and hospital kitchens running smoothly.
Food scientists and food technologists develop food and drink products, making sure they are safe to consume.
Energy engineers research, design and build power generation plants, and work in the oil and gas industry.
