Communication support workers (CSWs) help deaf students in education.
You can do a British Sign Language and deaf studies degree, although it's not essential. You'll usually need 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and 2 to 3 A-Levels, or equivalent.

With experience, you could move into a management position within sensory impairment or disability services. With further training, you could progress to become a sign language interpreter, a disability adviser or a teacher for deaf students. There are some opportunities to use sign language skills in theatre, television, multimedia production and courts of law. Signers are sometimes booked to interpret in interviews.
Primary school teachers are responsible for the educational, social and emotional development of children from age 5 to 11.
Learning mentors help students and pupils deal with any difficulties they have with their learning.
Training officers plan and run courses and workshops for staff within organisations.
Skills for life teachers work with adults and sometimes 16 to 18-year-olds to improve their English and maths.
Substance misuse outreach workers encourage people to get help from local support services, and advise them on minimising risks to health.
Special educational needs (SEN) teaching assistants support teachers to help children with special educational needs and disabilities.
At Little Angels, apprentices play a crucial part in supporting delivery of welfare and care for all our children. Supported by a suitably qualified Early Years Educator, you will interact and work with the children on a day to day basis, supporting the planning and delivery of play activities.
