Hello, I Am Rozanne

Due to my desire to pursue a degree and a career that I could be proud of, I made the decision to pursue an apprenticeship. I decided to do an apprenticeship as I can still earn a full wage, whilst getting hands-on experience and gaining a level 6 degree without having to sign up to £9000 of debt per year.

Tell us more about your experience

As part of my job, I'll be training to plan and manage projects of various sizes, from simple to complex. My friend and I initially worked together as a team, but once I gained confidence, I was able to work independently on some tasks under supervision. The stress of having to know what to do in my role has dramatically reduced as I've been able to ease into a brand-new world of project management and telecommunications.

My greatest accomplishment is without a doubt the fact that, at the age of 28, and while caring for my 8-year-old son, I was able to change careers.

I'm finally establishing a job for my future and the future of my children. It truly is never too late; I've come to realize. Sky is the limit, and I'm now pursuing a degree, something I've always wanted to do but couldn't do whilst having to work full time.

I'm grateful to Vodafone for giving me this incredible opportunity.

The biggest hurdle was starting a whole new career in an office setting after leaving a job that I was excellent at. I was uneasy about this because I wasn't sure how I would handle it. I've always liked to get my hands dirty. I like to dive right in, therefore I never imagined being able to work at a desk. However, I've gotten used to it so well that I wish I could have gone back in time and told the old me that everything would be fine and that she would be a success.

The support network I have are my manager, buddy, coaches, mentor, colleagues, youth committee and LinkedIn.

At the end of my Apprenticeship, I can apply for a full-time role as a Project Manager within Group or Vodafone UK

After completing a level 4 apprenticeship, I was certain that if I ever wanted to pursue a degree, I would do so via an apprenticeship. Exams are the worst, in my opinion, and an apprenticeship allows me to learn without feeling under pressure to study till five in the morning for tests. I prefer to gain knowledge while working and connect what I learn to my real-world experience.
