Hello, I Am Daniel

Tell us more about your experience

Can you describe your job and what you do on a day-to-day basis?

Currently, I work within the Brand & Campaigns team which focuses mainly on the forward-facing parts of Marketing. These include campaign launches (festive, summer etc), producing a strong brand presence through different channels of the business. The day-to-day of my role changes constantly, from photoshoots to International Olympics Committee Submissions. I currently work across a multitude of exciting projects with a main focus on the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games in which we are a Worldwide Partner! It is amazing to be involved in such a fantastic project which will be seen globally.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

The highlight of my graduate scheme so far has been the chance to be involved first-hand in the creative process of our photoshoots for the January-February campaign. I worked for 6 years in a store before coming into the role, seeing endless rotations and changeovers of campaigns throughout this time. To get the opportunity to make the drinks for the campaign as well as adding my creative direction into the shots was a fantastic experience, and to see these photographs on the screens in the store I used to work in was a real full-circle moment!

What has been the biggest challenge of your career so far?

The biggest challenge of my career so far has been actually making the jump from store to support centre. I was conditioned to work within a store environment and the adjustment to the corporate world (in which I had no experience in) was challenging. Getting to grips with the ways in which we work, the agencies we work with and the different programmes we use. But I truly feel now that I am in the swing of things, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the role I’m in, the people I work with and the amazing opportunity which is the Costa Coffee Marketing Graduate Scheme!

Is there anything you’d like to share that you think might inspire or interest someone looking at starting their career journey?

Don't be nervous to go outside of your comfort zone. It is the only way you will grow and progress not only in your career, but as a person.

Did you use GetMyFirstJob when you were looking for opportunities? If so, tell us about your experience.

Yes, the recruitment process for the role was carried out by GetMyFirstJob. The experience was great and organised. The questions I was asked were fair and gave me a chance to show who I am as a person even though the interview was recorded. I also received support from the team when going into my assessment centre where they were always willing to answer any questions I had.
