Hello, I Am Ashanti
An apprenticeship is an amazing experience to have, I definitely feel as if I have grown as an individual. I also love that I am treated as a valuable member of the team and given responsibilities from day one.
Tell us more about your experience
I am an in house
recruiter within the Talent Team at Channel 4. I help my manager to manage the
recruitment of a variety of creative roles. This consists of posting jobs,
shortlisting candidates, stakeholder management etc. As well as this get
involved in exciting personal projects like managing our social media Channels
for Channel 4 jobs. My proudest moment has to be starting the apprenticeship
with no recruitment experience to confidently managing 14 roles.
I initially went to
University for 2 months to study journalism but discovered that although I love
writing, I did not enjoy the course and wanted to work and study within another
area. When I was initially applying for apprenticeships some of them I did not
get through to the next stages and there was one where I got the offer but
COVID hit and I could not do it anymore. However, I kept trying and applying an
I am grateful that I did not give up.
"My advice to
someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship would be to go for it!! It is an
exciting journey and one that can beneficial. Apply to as many as you want and
allow your passion to shine through."
Whilst on the
apprenticeship I have received a vast variety of support from my immediate
team, external colleagues, as well as having a early years co-ordinator to
check in with all the apprentices. I also have a lovely warm tutor from Paragon
Skills who gives resources to help with my assignments.
In the future I
would love to secure a permanent placement within my team and my employer has
begun to discuss my options.
