Community education co-ordinators make sure education, training and recreation courses meet the needs of the local community.
You'll find it useful to have a foundation degree or degree in a subject like education, sociology, or youth and community development. You'll usually need 2 to 3 A-Levels, or equivalent.
You could take a college course, which may help when applying for a trainee job. Courses include:

You could start by doing a Level 3 apprenticeship in youth work, learning and development or community arts management. You'll usually need 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths.
Volunteering
Volunteering is a good way to build up contacts and can help you to get work in community education or development.
You can apply directly for jobs if you've got paid or voluntary experience of working in the community. For example, in adult education, teaching or youth work. Experience of working with disadvantaged or vulnerable groups will also be helpful.

With experience you could move into management. You could specialise in working with particular groups, training, or move into consultancy work. You could also move into community development work.
Skills for life teachers work with adults and sometimes 16 to 18-year-olds to improve their English and maths.
Housing officers look after rented properties for local authorities and housing associations.
Manufacturing supervisors keep production lines running smoothly and manage staff.
Further education (FE) lecturers teach adults, students and apprentices on academic and work-related courses
Quality assurance managers make sure a company's products and services meet and maintain set standards.
Special educational needs (SEN) teachers work with children and young people who have special educational needs or disabilities.
