You can take a college course, before looking for work in a nursery. Courses include:

As an experienced nursery worker you could specialise in working with children who have difficulties with learning, physical disabilities, or need support with their mental health. You could take a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification to progress to room leader, senior nursery worker or centre manager. You could also study towards a higher education qualification in early years or child development. You could then move into management or early years teaching.
Further education (FE) lecturers teach adults, students and apprentices on academic and work-related courses
School matrons look after the health and wellbeing of pupils in boarding schools.
Social work assistants give advice, guidance and support to help people with their physical, emotional and social needs.
Portage home visitors provide help at home for pre-school children with learning difficulties, physical disabilities or other special needs.
Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) assessors support and assess vocational qualifications, helping trainees meet standards.
Communication support workers (CSWs) help deaf students in education.
