Description

The successful candidate would be required to spend time in all departments.

The processes involved include but are not limited to the following :-

• CNC Operation

• Manual Milling/turning

• SolidWorks Mechanical Design

Major responsibilities:

• Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled technical staff

• To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the company

• To undertake and successfully complete suitable college courses throughout the training period, achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression, aiming to lead on to the award of a suitable Engineering Technician Level 3 qualification.

• Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the workspace

• To learn how to maintain workshop equipment and to keep it in good repair

• To maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects that have been undertaken and the skills learned.

• To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace

• To develop the skills to construct or modify components from verbal instructions and drawings to a high degree of precision.

• To perform any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the post holder

• Excellent communication and organisational skills
3 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, however we do consider candidates who do not have these.
You will attend Exeter Colle 2 days a week during term time. You will also learn while on the job.

• Be hungry to learn, continually develop and take on more responsibility

• Have a problem solving approach to technical issues

• Hard working and willing to put in time where needed

• Team player

Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Engineering Operative, you will be considered to progress onto the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship. There will also be opportunities to join the Team as a full-time qualified staff member.
